Let's Hear It for the Boy

My blogger pal Chexy has some thoughtful words about Chaz Bono -- and what his turn on "Dancing With the Stars" means -- worth checking out HERE.

As I told him, I can't even bring myself to watch that show -- I suffered through enough dancing to see my favorite stars in the "Solid Gold" era -- despite Kenny-bait contestants like Monica Seles and Belinda Carlisle! But having grown up in the tennis community during the Renee Richards "affair," it has been interesting to see how the public reaction to transsexualism has -- and hasn't -- changed over the years. And with that in mind, I echo Chexy's praise. Chaz's appearance on "Dancing With the Stars" will certainly go down in transhistory, just as Renee Richards' New York Supreme Court victory to play in the U.S. Open did in 1977.
