Women Rock the Hall of Fame Nominations

Excited to hear that Heart, Joan Jett, Donna Summer -- along with Laura Nyro, Rufus with Chaka Khan, the Cure, Guns N Roses, the Faces/Small Faces, Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Spinners, Freddie King, Donovan, the Beastie Boys, Eric B and Rakim and War -- were nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Heart's a no-brainer, and Joan's finally been getting the respect she always deserved. (From novelty act to this!) Always wondered if Donna would get the nod given her disco leanings -- she's been nominated before -- but it's becoming evident that Cleveland is really more a "music" hall of fame, as well it should be. Congrats to all!

Donna may be saddled with the "Disco Queen" title, but she's one of a few acts, like Rock Hall inductees Bee Gees, to have career beyond disco and the '70s. She should get in. When you think of "disco" artists that really went beyond that label, you think of Bee Gees, Donna Summer and Chic (especially for Nile's production work in the '80s).
