On my stoop circa 1998
This weekend marked my 13th anniversary in New York. While a baker's dozen may seem like a strange year to commemorate, it's significant because I've now lived in New York -- and my Chelsea apartment -- longer than I've ever lived anywhere else, including my childhood homes in Madison Heights, Michigan, and Mesa, Arizona. It's hard to know when you've officially become a "New Yorker" -- Rosanne Cash told me it takes 10 years -- but I think this marks the moment for me!
