OMD Dazzles Beantown or 50-Somethings Geek Out to Superb Synthpop

Just got the skinny on last night's OMD concert in Boston and let's just say I'm more psyched than ever to see the synth legends myself, tonight in New York. My pal Taffy reports that the show "was just a delight. '50-somethings geek out to superb synthpop' would be the headline to my two-thumbs-up review, were I to write one. The setlist was an OMD hit lovers dream -- 21 songs, just 5 from the new wonderful album. ... I'm still swooning." He sent me said list -- I won't give it away as I know how people are about spoilers -- but I agree it is impressive although I was caught off-guard by the inclusion of "Walking on the Milky Way," which (apparently) was a U.K. hit in 1996 for the band during that weird period after Paul Humphreys had left but was involved in writing songs again. ("Sugar Tax" was my final purchase before their reunion album last year.) Sure enough, "Milky Way" is a delightful song -- and makes me realize THIS may be a bit inspired by it, no? -- and worth a listen if you're like me and need to "know" everything ahead of time. So excited -- anyone else going?
