BREAKING: Hot Couples Make Bitchy Queens Angry

Diss and make up

Yikes. Remind me to never become young and handsome and on the cover of INSTINCT magazine. Less than 24 hours after Eric Turner and John Odom's love story hit the Web -- they're getting MARRIED -- here's what commenters have to say. (Hint: All 13 are vicious, from allegations of lying and cheating to steroids and planned M2F surgery.) Don't feel bad, Eric, I had three testicles too!

(Click for maximum bitchiness)

It's a good thing these guys are used to dealing with bitches

John Odom works out and is a trainer at my gym. He is really not that pretty, and not very nice. Unfortunately, most of those comments are true about them. Instinct totally got this wrong, which is pretty sad. There are tons of relationships out there that would be a better representation. I will have to say, if you are in a relationship and are pretty in Houston, people will do anything to break you up. I know by experience.

If the people writing these comments really know these guys then it seems like John & Eric have A LOT of Karma to work through. We've all hurt other people in our lives, get over it and more on people. If John & Eric have truly found love with each other then good for them. Apparently, love is sorely lacking in this world & I, for one, wish them the best.

Really… 4 dogs? The comments are amazing. Love it. (I'm sure they're very nice people… maybe)

they were picked for their looks - obviously

so they are fair game - Instinct is the Cosmo of gay mags (an over compliment but you get my point) and it is designed to promote unreal ideals / lifestyle to get advertising dollars

get in bed with that and you get ridiculed

I've never understood the reason for all the bitchiness and raw hate for gay people that seems to dominate the comments sections of many gay blogs. (I long ago stopped reading comments on the excellent Towleroad site, for instance, because of the whiny viciousness of many of the commenters.)

Is it simply that some people have to put others down in order to feel better about themselves? Pretty sad.

Absolutely ridiculous.

@bcarter3 I don't believe it's a gay issue unless we make it a gay issue. I am just as amused reading the comments on Paula Dean's ridiculous recipes and honestly if hate does not exist in your heart then you cannot be offended by it. A depiction of the "perfect" heterosexual couple would be as easily torn apart because we all know in our hearts that behind the mask of perfection is humanity-and their is nothing perfect about that-but it's great all the same! Just have fun!

Let's be honest, Instinct wouldn't be interested in this story if the couple didn't look like they do. That's the problem. The gay community is full of amazing relationship stories, of relationships that have lasted far longer than four months. But those don't get covered in Instinct because the parties don't look like these guys do. So while some of the bitchy comments are ridiculous, at their heart, they're driven by the fact that the magazine has confused pretty with relevant.

And these people are? Is this from television?

They say that people hate you either because they want you, or they want to be you. If they didn't hate you, they'd be indifferent. Indifference doesn't breed comments like those.

I, for one, actually read the article when my magazine came in the mail. The article gives 2 other examples of relationships, and asks 'What is the modern gay relationship?' The people who are commenting saying that the magazine shouldn't have picked them for one reason or another haven't even read the article.

I'm proud of guys like this for standing up and showing that the entire gay community isn't full of such hatred.

KiT212: it's nice to be back for a visit.
I'm more convinced than ever that the changes in the gay and lesbian community are more intense and fundamental than in the straight world (tech changes, economic changes, Plus marriage/civil union, kids, family, etc.) - how many comments are from gay men who are struggling to find their place in this changing environment?

Anonymous you probably havent even taken the time to get to know John at all. he is a dear friend of mine that would do anything for his friends, but he keeps to himself at the gym and just because you want him to talk to you and he doesnt, you feel you need to bad mouth him. He is friends with real people and he will be the first to tell you he could care less what bitchy queens think of him. He changes peoples lives everyday and is passionate about helping people that need his help. Its obviously jealousy that fuels your fire or the fact that he wont sleep with you. I have never heard him say one mean thing or be judgmental about anyone.

The origin of those pissy comments is, no doubt, our homophobic Congress.

"they were picked for their looks - obviously"

My favorite quote from uber bitchy Boys in the Band:
Harold: [Beauty] Only skin deep. It's transitory, too. It's terribly transitory. Oh yes. It's too bad about this poor boy's face. It's tragic. He's absolutely cursed. How could his beauty ever compare with my soul? And although I've never seen my soul, I understand from my mother's Rabbi that it's a knock-out. I, however, cannot seem to locate it for a gander. And if I could, I'd sell it in a flash, for some skin-deep, transitory, meaningless beauty.

Kenneth, you'll notice a lot of these comments are from people who know them. Eric has cheated on all of his boyfriends.. Im sure this will be no different. They barely knew each other when they got 'engaged'. Clearly, their looks are what even got them in this magazine, which is fine... looks sell. But at the core, they are not a good example of a relationship. How about they feature a couple who has made it past the 1 year mark? just a thought. I give them 6 more months before John finds out Eric is cheating on him. He moved here for someone named David back in the day and he cheated on him.

Two muscle marys finding each other across a dumbell - wow, that's original! This is one of the gay stereotypes that we are trying to breakdown and here Instinct is positively promoting it. Two conceited roid-addicts with four dogs who are both personal trainers? How cliche!

John Odom? I thought his name was Morne something, according to their'love story'? Did I miss something?

@edmcan: This is the previous guy who he was also going to marry!
