Italy pulls off a Davis Cup hat-trick; Jonathan Eysseric heats up Tennis OF; Fabien Reboul is giving it away and more in this week's round-up BELOW.
Jannik who? Italy snagged its third straight Davis Cup, toppling Spain 2-0 on Sunday -- and both teams did it without their headline acts. No Sinner for the Azzurri, no Carlos Alcaraz for La Roja. Turns out the understudies were more than ready for prime time.
Matteo Berrettini set the tone by dismantling Pablo Carreño Busta in straight sets, giving Italy the early lead. Then came Flavio Cobolli, who looked down for the count after dropping the first set 6-1 to Jaume Munar. But the kid clawed his way back, taking the second-set tiebreak and then grinding out a 7-5 finish in the third to clinch it. Final scoreline: 2-6, 7-6(5), 7-5 -- and cue the delirious celebrations in Bologna.
Three cheers for my hubby Andrea Vavassori, who didn't even have to pick up a racket on Sunday!
Ironically, we all won on Friday when Cobolli defeated Zizou Bergs in an epic three-setter.
Not since McEnroe vs. Wilander have I seen such a dramatic Davis Cup match!

While Fabien Reboul is giving it away ... yes, that's what you think is on his beard. (Ask me about his videos.) Oh, and it turns out there's much more to Lorenzo Musetti's naughty hijinks, but I haven't figured out how to share it.)
