Loved Mike Signorile's tweet from earlier today. (He's in big trouble now for his lack of "civility" -- to which he replies that he didn't think it was "civil" of Reagan to let people die while he pandered to moralists.) It's funny, because I have such vivid memories of 1980 -- with Olivia Newton-John's "Magic" on the radio all summer long -- and how much I disliked Ronald Reagan. I can't even say I was all that knowledgeable as to why -- I was 13 that summer, and it's not like my parents were political and I was following or going against their lead -- but I remember trying to my hardest to convince my friend Mark's older siblings to not vote for him, going so far as to head up the Anderson campaign at Rhodes Junior High. (Not sure this offered much of an alternative, but you can't say I didn't try to warn people!) As the nation commemorated what would have been Reagan's 100th birthday, it's encouraging that not everyone has been hoodwinked by the revisionist legacy, a legacy that goes completely against virtually everything his admirers claim to believe in.Robert Mazze at Bloggaliocious has a great Top 10 Reasons Reagan Was a Bad President HERE -- and he couldn't even fit the fact that Reagan banned the Beach Boys(!) for attracting the wrong sort of crowd.

As my first try at volunteering, I worked for Anderson, too.
I want to thank Reagan for one thing though... he turned me into a big 'ol Democrat.
