He's No Bushwacker

The AP reports that an Australian school principal has asked students to stop using the word "gay" when singing a classic Aussie nursery rhyme -- "Kookaburra Sits in the Old Gum Tree" -- but said Thursday no offense was intended, he was simply trying to keep the kids from laughing. But, as my brother pointed out, the principal apparently left the line "merry, merry king of the bush is he" alone. Interesting.

Meanwhile, my other brother expressed support for Christian activist groups who say that gay-rights groups' push for anti-bullying legislation and school programs is an effort to "promote homosexuality to kids." My brother wrote: Makes sense to me. If you don't have the other kids knocking it the hell out of you, of course you're gonna gay it up. (UPDATE: Before the outraged comments continue -- that's the trademark Walsh sarcasm at work.)

Sorry to read about "the other brother" and his comments I hope he's not the one who lives on my street.
