Page 1 Consider (04/01)

  • The F Word: Facebook dismantled my pal Frank Anthony Polito's fan page for his novel "Band Fags" because "pages that are hateful, threatening, or obscene are not allowed." Was this done by a computer program that flagged the word "fags" or is someone at Facebook really this moronic? Read what Frank had to say about it HERE.

  • DADT Progress Report: The secretary of the Army, John M. McHugh, said Wednesday that he was effectively ignoring the “don’t ask, don’t tell” law because he had no intention of pursuing discharges of active-duty service members who have recently told him that they are gay. (NYT) Still, some say the Obama administration is still "ducking" the issues. (Advocate)

  • Where Are They Now? Matt (kinda) tracks down Adam Nathan, who played record-store twink Peter in the classic gay film "Parting Glances." (BoyCulture)

  • When Will He Learn?: Apparently the near destruction of health care reform wasn't enough to convince President Obama that Republicans cannot play nice. (NYT)

  • Generation Gap: I've been called a "prominent gay blogger" by one of the biggest blogs around, yet I haven't heard of a single person on the New York Times' list of "Rising Stars of Gossip Blogs." Great, just what I need. Another topic I'm completely "out of it" about. (NYT)

  • Mailing It In: Sarah Palin didn't bother showing up to "govern" Alaska. So why would it be a surprise that she wouldn't actually interview guests on her new show? (E!Online)

  • Commando Performance: Some male runners grapple with the question: underwear or no underwear? (NYT)

  • It Takes a Village: Outraged that the father of a dead Marine was ordered to pay a portion of court costs incurred by an anti-gay group he had sued for picketing his son's funeral, a grass-roots fundraising effort has been launched to help the grieving family. (Baltimore Sun)

  • Tragic Ending: The young man who leaped to death from the Empire State Building on Tuesday night has been ID'd as Yale University student Cameron Dabaghi. At least 34 people have jumped to their deaths from the Empire State Building since it opened in 1931. (NYDN)

  • IM DEAD: Police in Norman, Okla., confirmed they are investigating the death of Keith Kimmel, who made national news earlier this year after suing the Oklahoma Tax Commission to approve his request to have "IM GAY" put on his license plate. (News on 6)

  • TransAmerica: I read recently that 1 in 3 transgender people commits suicide while transitioning. This is a horrifying statistic, especially when you consider the higher-than-average rate of homicides in the transgender community, like Amanda Gonzalez-Andujar, 29, who was found dead in her ransacked Queens apartment on Tuesday. (NYDN)
