Morning Wood: William McNamara

William McNamara first caught my eye when he played the young Mark Harmon opposite Jodie Foster in "Stealing Home," but it was his portral of the preppy sexually confused groom-to-be in the brilliant film "Doing Time on Maple Drive" that made me fall in love with him. Although Billy never became the megastar I thought he would (his life has taken a bizarre twist of late as he is involved in a RICO lawsuit against the L.A. County district attorney's office claiming that the D.A. and his minions attempted to extort money from him), he's as handsome as ever and continues to work regularly in TV and films -- as well as being active in various causes.

He was also in "Copycat" as a serial killer. Creepy!

I connected so much with Maple Drive that I made my childhood friend Ruth watch it before I came out to her. Only it was really late on a school night and she was growing bored, so she turned to me and said, are you trying to tell me you're gay, cause I really need to get to sleep :-) Love McNamara, but very disappointed to find out he's straight. As usual :-)

If anyone hasn't seen this movie, please do--it's full of excellent performances and very well written. Highly recommended.
