Some Settling May Have Occurred

After getting officially "cleared" to return to exercise yesterday by my "sports" doctor, I am gearing up to the go the gym this afternoon for the first time (more or less) since I inexplicably hurt my back early in the summer. (As it turns out, I probably should have been exercising all along once the acute pain stopped, but that's another story entirely. I'm still in pain, but I guess I've just gotta "work through it.")

Getting back into a routine is never easy, and I certainly haven't made things any easier on myself by allowing my diet to change while I wasn't working out. (Funny how that works: can't go to the gym anymore, might as well start eating Pop-Tarts again! And let's not even go into that box of brownies my mom sent us.) I do own a mirror, so while I know things aren't good -- OK, they're pretty bad -- I also know I haven't let things get entirely out of control. The plan is a weigh-in, followed by 20 minutes on the treadmill and then some doctor-prescribed back/shoulder exercises to "rebuild strength" (I love how they phrase it that way, as if I had any to begin with!). Then I need to restock my house with some non-Kellogg's products.

Wish me luck!

Good luck Kenneth! You'll have your "Body For Life" body back in no time! :) I'm also suffering from a back injury and have had to modify my routine. Getting old sucks!
