Mr. Pink Nose

I kind of freaked yesterday when my baby woke up with a huge lump on his neck and a suspicious patch of missing fur nearby. (Strangely, he didn't seem to even notice.) While I appreciate my local vet's ability to see Larry on short notice, must everything they do -- even lancing (what turned out to be) an abscess -- cost $453.81? (Any talk in the Senate about expanding Medicare for pets?) Poor fella -- who they said "was the best patient" they had all day (if they only knew) -- has a drain stuck inside him now for the next few days and is supposed to wear his cone for 10 (!). Naturally, Mr. Congeniality is having none of it. Two hours after we brought him home Michael came over to check on him and the cone was long removed. Putting it back on him has been a real treat ... luckily that $453.81 included a "complimentary" nail trimming. And the way he looks in his cone? Well, obviously that's priceless.

If this had happen to you and not Larry it would have cost $4,538.10.

Our Kitty, Snowball, had the same thing. I thought $156 was high. They shaved her neck and excised all the dead tissue. The wound was the size of a Silver Dollar and she looked like road kill. 6 weeks later and it's amazingly all healed up and the shaved area has almost all grown back in. Hang in there. Time will get your Kitty back to "cat normal"...whatever that is.

I like the cone. It makes Larry look like Ming the Merciless. http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/File:Max_von_Sydow-Ming_the_Merciless.jpg. Maybe he can wear it on special occasions after he's better.
