Well, after a string of dreadful chain restaurants infiltrating Chelsea (Bright Food Shop became a Qdoba, the Kitchen a Subway), things are beginning to look up. Although FoodBar has recently revealed itself to be a Chipotle in the making, the old 18th Street Magazine shop is now Roy's Pizza. And now the empty store across from my building just announced that it would be a new
Westville. Although I didn't know what that was -- at first I thought it was the name of the construction company -- I investigated further when I heard two girls walk by and shriek with delight ("It's gonna be a Westville!!!"). According to the Web site, there are currently two locations -- one in the East and one in the West Village -- and it sounds like exactly my kind of place, "eclectic American cuisine in a casual laid-back atmosphere. Great burger, fresh market vegetables, homemade desserts and daily specials." (Sign me up!) Now can we keep the streak going? The almost-always-closed-yet-still-in-"business" Indian restaurant on 8th Avenue has finally been gutted, and it looks like something new is about to move in. At this point, I'd settle for a even
good chain. Are you listening, Au Bon Pain?

Did you just imply that Au Bon Pain is a "good" chain?
