Do They Test for Editorial Steroids?

As I've said before, there is NO WAY you can suddenly get giant guns by "just working out hard" -- especially when you're in your 40s -- without performance-enhancing drugs. And now that we've "met" Anderson Cooper's pumped-up boyfriend, Benjamin (Antoine) Maisani, I think we know where Andy is getting his, um, "help" with his body 180. Now I wonder if AC's BFF Kathy Griffin is getting her human growth hormone from the Eastern Bloc-hunk, too. I mean really, Kath. Don't get me wrong, I think they all look great. But to not acknowledge what's going on is no different from praising Star Jones for her amazing weight loss by way of intense pilates.

Awww and they're wearing coordinating Fred Perry shirts. So cute.

Their arms aren't that big. I have arms like that, and I don't do steroids. Remember Big+Cut=Steroids. They're still a little puffy.

I agree with OperaGuy. Coop in particular is not that big - you could relatively easily get his kind of body since he's in good shape but clearly spends a lot of time on his arms.

His BF is definitely bigger but still in the realm of attainable w/o steroids (although it does take a lot of work). I'm about as big as the BF (and similarly not ridiculously cut) and haven't ever used anything more than protein+creatine.

But do you have a size 28 waist, OperaGuyNY? You can't bulk up and slim down at the same time without "help." No way. (It's physically impossible.) It's taken me a long time, but finally I've gotten literally eight of my "built" friends (and relatives) to FINALLY come clean, and every single one of them who turned their body around substantially has admitted to doing something, whether it be getting their doctor to prescribe them testosterone ("I'm tired all the time," they instructed me to say) or HGH or straight-up steroid injections. It's time to blow the lid off this Chelsea Boy body myth. I'm not judging anyone, it's merely the truth.

I'm all for honesty in regard to steroid use - because I love to proudly say that I've always been natural. (nose in the air. lol) I also know that the person in question is ridiculously dedicated to his diet and workouts.
With that said, steroids are not needed to get in great shape. Dedication is. I'm in my 30s and can get ripped in a short time and do have a 30" waist, I just need motivation like being naked in front of people or my picture in the papers and blogs (my picture has even been up on your blog.) Or just having a hot boyfriend ;)
So, just as in the case of "coming out of the closet", coming clean about steroid use is up to the individual and akin to being honest about a toupee - it's their perogative. Instead of judging it, why not use it as as motivation to look even better then them without steroids, or as an openly gay man... or as a proud baldy!

I'm a fan of your blog, Kenneth, but you do seem to be judging and disparaging those you're pointing out. ;)

it sounds judgmental and envious. maybe you should have your testosterone levels checked. age and low levels can produce a version of male menopause (i.e. bitchiness)

Normally I agree with you Kenneth, but I have to say you're out of line this time. First of all, never make categorical declarations. Nothing is impossible. Secondly, if you hound & harass your friends/family enough I'm sure they'll finally say "yeah I took HGH" just to shut you up. I would hate to have a decent physique & have to spend an evening with you interrogating me about what supplements I've consume.

Steroids are one thing...but a prescription of Testosterone or HGH? So what? Or maybe they took creatine or DHEA (THE HORROR!) Have you ever been to a GNC?!

In the end, the question is "why do you care so much?" What is it about these men & their bodies that makes you so angry or feel so badly about your own? No matter what you say, you ARE judging. You're basically calling them liars or cheaters because you feel there is "NO WAY" to get that physique without "help". Admit to being jealous or envious...but don't try to tear them down. Honestly, it's a little childish.

Maybe you need to spend time working on appreciating yourself & your own body, instead of focusing so intently on everyone else's

Bravo, Kenneth, for challenging all the muscle boys to come clean about using steroids.

If using them is no big deal, then why all the lying and shame?

AJ: So is it "judging and disparaging" Star Jones to point out she looks great AFTER having gastric bypass surgery?

I am a 24-yr-old dancer at SPLASH and what Kenneth believes reflects what many, VERY AVERAGE-LOOKING gay men like him painfully want to believe: that guys who look like me MUST have SOMETHING about us that isn't "right" or on the up-and-up. Well, all I can say is that you VERY AVERAGE-LOOKING guys shouldn't HATE us! U'd be better-served to EMULATE us! Now wrap THAT around your pencil necks and wear it like an ornate, Harry Winston necklace! Ha!

I work out at DBG and see the both of them all the time. Have no idean about the BF but Anderson is not big in real life. I think it is the combination of photos adding 10 lbs and the fact that in photos his arms are always contracting either by pushing his bike or in that picture of him actually working out.

In fact I was amazed by how slim Anderson was in real life.

Doc- I'm trying to say that you don't need to take anyone down. Build yourself up instead. The whole blog item is convoluted. We don't control what our friends say nor should we be judged on their jokes or opinions.
I also don't think anyone else would appreciate having their photo posted with unsubstantiated claims attached.
And to answer your question, no. I think it would just be a lie to say she looks great! LOL!

yes, all the muscle boys use performance enhancing drugs. muscle boys have been doing so for over 50 years. it's not a secret. what's the problem? where's your outrage over circuit party boys using ecstasy or tina? where's your outrage over porn stars using viagra?

krueger said...

TimF: Who's outraged? He's just saying what you're agreeing with. A lot of people don't realize that this is what's going on.

I totally agree with you Kenneth. I lost a frienship over this. My friend went from a 130 pound pixie to a 170 pound ripped machine in a few months. When I asked him in private and nicely as a friend what he was taking "He said how dare you accuse me of taking something", and our friendship has never been the same. Now when I see him on the street he looks like a mini Hulk Hogan. We obviously weren't very good friends to begin with, I just do not understand all the denial and shame?
