After Speaker Nancy Pelosi said that a roll call vote to rebuke Joe Wilson was likely given his refusal to apologize on the House floor (yes, he apologized to President Obama, but he also disgraced his colleagues in front of the American people and they have every right to be pissed too), Rep. Tom Price, R-Ga., "warned Democrats not to take action against Wilson or risk "poisoning any possibility of working together." Gee, we wouldn't want THAT to happen. Things were going so smoothly when the president was trying to work with the GOP and one of its member ... SCREAMED "YOU LIE!!!!" at him in a Joint Session of Congress while trying to work together on the health care issue. What next, Mr. Price? Are you going to suggest that rape victims not report being assaulted for fear of making the attackers angry and less willing to not rape them in the future? Serena Williams got a $10,000 fine and lost at the US Open for yelling at a line judge. But if you're a member of Congress and you scream at the President of the United States while he's in the middle of a speech, no big deal. This is probably what the Roman Senate was like, right before the whole Empire collapsed -- a bunch of venal, selfish children squawking at each other.
All this because the president wants to give health care to poor people. But when a president wants to get the country into a stupid, bloody, expensive war in 2 countries, hurray! Give him all the billions he wants!
Thanks, Republicans, for once again making it an embarrassment to be an American. There was a glimmer of hope after O was elected, but your party dragged us all right back down into the gutter.
