Page 1 Consider (07/13)

  • Der Wienerschnitzel: Sacha Baron Cohen's "Bruno" landed on top this weekend ... at the box office. Michael and I saw it and found it to be amusing if a bit uneven, but nothing close to the side-splitting humor of its predecessor, "Borat." I give it 2 1/2 dildos out of four and don't believe any gays were harmed in the making of this film. (NYT)

  • School Riot: Who remembers Debralee Scott and Richard Dawson's "Match Game" protest of 1977? (Retrospace)

  • Topical News: Did Sarah Palin resign from office to become a spokesmodel for Rogaine for Women? (NYT) Whatever the truth is, Frank Rich sure has her number.

  • Queen of the Court: The former No. 1 and nine-time Grand Slam champion Monica Seles is inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, R.I., and the ghost of Gunter Parche is there. (AP)

  • Marching On: Allies' stance cited in U.S. gays-in-military debate. (AP)

  • Stepping Out: Chaz Bono made his first public appearance since announcing his transsexuality at Outfest’s Opening Night Gala of “La Mission” at the Orpheum in Los Angeles on Thursday. (NYDN)

  • Not Dead Yet: Did you know that Ellen DeGeneres, Rick Astley, Miley Cyrus, Jeff Goldblum, Britney Spears and Harrison Ford have all been subjects of recent Twitter death hoaxes. (I didn't, but I did think Michael Jackson was.) (NYT)

  • Men Behaving Badly? Were Presidents Obama and Sarkozy giving this chick's ass the once-over twice? (ABCNews)

  • Alone in a Crowd: Are Michael Stipe, his boyfriend, Thomas Dozol, and a hooker taking nekkid photos of themselves and putting them on guyswithiphones.com? You decide. (OhNoTheyDidnt)

  • Frenemies: This new show starring Michael Ian Black and Michael Showalter, “Michael and Michael Have Issues,” sounds fun: What they share is a 20-year history and a comic sensibility that is predicated on self-deprecation and schadenfreude. “I don’t feel like I particularly have rivals or nemeses,” Mr. Black said. “I just have very good friends that I hope fail.” (NYT)

  • The Rocketeer: I have had a crush on Billy Campbell since his days on "Crime Story," yet it's taken me anothe 20 years to see him naked. (Thanks, Frank!) (OMG Blog!)

  • RIP: Barbara Margolis, a longtime volunteer in New York City jails who 20 years ago founded Fresh Start, a widely praised training program that brings the city’s finest chefs to Rikers Island to train inmates in culinary arts, and then helps those inmates find restaurant jobs upon release, died on July 3 in Manhattan: "Perhaps the greatest sign of the esteem in which Mrs. Margolis was held came from the prisoners themselves. Frank Guzman, a Fresh Start alumnus who now earns his living as a trucker, recalled on Friday that inmates once stole her car from the Rikers parking lot. When they found out whose it was, they returned it at once." (NYT)

Re: Sarah Palin: For the best political analysis of Palin checkout Willie Brown's column in the San Francisco Chronicle via SF Gate: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2009/07/12/BA9A18MCT5.DTL

If the title of maverick ever applied to a politician, it would be to Willie Brown, former decades long Speaker of the California Assembly and mayor of SF, Brown understands the nitty gritty side. Follow Browns insights, that will lead to how to bring Palin down once and for all.

We were just giving our 20-something friend, Adam, a tutorial the other night on the brilliance that was "Match Game" (and Brett Sommers). While I don't recall Debralee Scott from that show, I LOVED her as Donna Pescow's wise-cracking kid sister, Marie.

OMG... I just looked her up on wikipedia and discovered she DIED in 2005! How did I miss that?

...on "Angie." (I was so devastated when I read that Debralee Scott died, I forgot to finish my sentence.)

OBAMA is not checking out her tush! He's observing her, obvious, bad choice in shoes with that dress. Flats? really?

I recall Deborah Lee most as Mary Hartman's little sister, a part time sweathog and the deleted scenes of EARTHQUAKE that were put back in to make it a two-parter on TV. I'm pretty sure, toward the end, she had a drinking problem. My favorite memory of her is her hairstyle with the curly bangs.

At what point in the transition of transsexuals do the pronouns change?

Stipes has some rockin' body...how old is he?

    Jimmy: Now. My mistake.

Frank: BoyCulture blogged about Debralee's passing. He was OBSESSED with her for some reason. I was more preoccupied with Robert Hays on that show ...
