Vote Early, Vote Often

The L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center and the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center of New York City put out the call, and videographers from across the nation responded by submitting short videos promoting the freedom to marry for same-sex couples. Now it’s time for you to weigh in and help select the best entrants in Project Pushback.

From now through June 15, visitors to www.equalityvideo.org will be able to view the 68 video entries and vote for the ones they think are most likely to change hearts and minds in support of same-sex marriage. They’ll also have the opportunity to enter a free drawing for a $1,000 digital video camera. The stakes are high for Project Pushback entrants -- the winner of the popular vote will receive a $1,000 prize, and a panel of industry experts will select the Grand Prize winner, who will receive $2,500.

But the stakes are even higher for same-sex couples across the nation, most of whom cannot legally marry in their home states. The tide is turning, but there’s a lot of work to be done before everyone in this country enjoys the freedom to marry the one they love.

NBC4 in LA just played one of the videos in full on the 5 pm news. Project Pushback is already spreading the message.
