The shelf life for most comedians is not very long, so I really have to hand it to Kathy Griffin for not only remaining on top as long as she has, but continuing to get bigger with each passing year. (Anyone go to Sandra Bernhard's fake 20-year anniversary performance of "Without You, I'm Nothing" or watch "The Sandra Bernhard Experience"? Yeah, exactly ...) I admit I was concerned when I heard that each episode of the fifth season of "My Life on the D-List" was going to revolve around her interaction with another celebrity. Sure, she can't exactly keep pretending she's a nobody, but the times she's hung out with celebs on previous episodes -- Margaret Cho, anyone? -- were not exactly my favorites. The season premiere seemed to support my fear but these last two episodes -- particularly yesterday's visit to Savannah with Paula Deen (that assistant!!!) -- were
HILARIOUS. ("My feet are really sore from wearing these shoes. Where's my Grammy for that?" ) And the more I think about it, I'm starting to realize the premiere just sucked because Bette Midler is a complete stick in the mud. (Cover image via

No argument about Bette. If she was a guy, I'd call her a tool.
Best part was Paula Dean using the term "circle jerk" --- I am keeping that DVR recording for my next remix!
That is THE only reality show I look at..and it's Kathy...but that first show with Bette whom I adore BTW!.....now she has JUST finished a full show, I know she's amazing, seen her numerous times, especially in the old days at the Palace..But there's NO WAY on this earth a woman of her age is putting everything into THAT performance at Vegas like she used to, then run upstairs to dinner..that's ok...then run out to get deep fried oreo cookies..NO NO NO..that ain't the old Bette Midler..I'm wondering IF all the songs she sings in that OVERPRICED Vegas show are Live? has anyone seen it?..there is NO WAY in the OLD DAYS she could barely WALK OFF THE STAGE!! after a great performance
In the season premiere anytime Bette opened her mouth I found myself wincing without fail. By the end of the episode I had practically been sucked into the couch from all of the cutting remarks she made toward Kathy who took it all in stride.
