HIV Cribs

I'll admit that I'm reeaaaally bad at guessing how much money people have or make (I guess not really caring doesn't help my abilities). But when I heard legendary playwright and AIDS activist Larry Kramer bitching on and on about having to buy his own plane ticket to speak at the National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association conference in San Diego a couple years ago -- totally embarrassing the organizers in front of a packed room of journalists -- I really felt bad for the guy and figured he was an old man with some serious health issues struggling to get by on a modest income from his writing. Apparently I was wrong. The spring issue of New York Observer Home has a glorious spread of the ACT Up founder's 15-acre Connecticut spread nestled on hillside land overlooking Lake Waramaug. The tricked-out estate boasts an apple orchard, fields of daffodils and wild flowers, a swimming pool and a croquet lawn. To Larry I said this: Good for you. And good for you to not stopping bitching just because you can afford not to. And bonus points for bedding your architect!
