It seems Starbucks is now carrying the frequently fun New York Observer alongside The New York Times. (For those not from New York, it was in the Observer that Candace Bushnell wrote her famed Sex and the City column on which the TV series was based.) After I paid for my latte this evening I noticed the new issue on the stand and went to the register to pay for it. Rather than taking my money -- it costs 2 bucks -- the cashier LAUGHED at me and waved me away and said, "You can just take it!" Ouch.

I hate Starbucks because they drive so many real coffeehouses out of business.
