OK, so I rather predictably fell off the Netflix bandwagon in recent weeks (working OT days, going out of town).
But Michael and I
finally (is this supposed to be such a chore?!!!) got around to watching "In Bruges" on Saturday night and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. A. Because I had heard so many good things about it that I figured I would HAVE to be disappointed ("Slumdog Millionaire," anyone?); and B. Because it has that "Pulp Fiction" humor-during-extreme-violence thing going on, which -- other than in, well, "Pulp Fiction" -- I find
really tiresome. At one point I turned to Michael and said, "I really like that Colin Farrell is actually acting and not playing the same character like he does in everything." To which Michael replied, "Really? What have you ever seen him in?" Touche.
Next up? "Chuck & Buck," a film I had never heard of before until a strange thing happened last week on Facebook. (
STOP READING if you're a friend or family member who does not want to be grossed out by TOO MUCH INFORMATION.) No sooner had I
written about how I didn't understand why all my friends were complaining about these random people resurfacing from the past on Facebook did I get an e-mail from my brother saying a friend of mine from back in Madison Heights, Mich., had tracked him down on the social-networking site, and his message said: "I remember your brother Kenny. What is he doing now?" What his message didn't mention was that we used to fool around in his blue pup tent he'd set up on the hill that separated our houses back when we were 11. (I'll never forget his mother, Gladys,
SURPRISING us with a plate of Jeno's Pizza Rolls one night. Or was it the other way around?) My brother referred Paul to my profile and I quickly got a message from him. When I learned that he was married with children now, my amused coworker Jesse said it sounded like "'Chuck & Buck' in reverse," hence the rental. Having been told what the film is about, I sincerely doubt it; Is it "Brokeback Mountain" -- or should I say
"Willow Hill"? That remains to be seen ...

CHUCK & BUCK is a movie I saw in the theaters and one of the only DVDs I made sure to go and buy. I love that movie.

Mike White - Buck - is racing with this dad, Mel White, on the current edition of Amazing Race.
...& Mike White wrote & appeared in two movies that I didn't think I would like & I really enjoyed both of them- The GOOD GIRL & SCHOOL OF ROCK.
I think he is very talented.
He & Mel are great on The Amazing Race. I wish I had seen past seasons... it is a first rate reality show.
I agree with Marrett...I keep coming back to Chuck & Buck. That film features a wonderful perfomance by Lupe Ontiveros.
Isnt Chuck or is it Buck the dude w/ his dad on Amazing Race this season too? I know what you mean about FB. Theres a few blast from the past ( yes pun intended) that has caught up to me-- they are now married etc...very strange...but sorta cool too...
