Weekend Tennis Roundup

Titles for De Minaur, Darderi, Bublik, Fernandez and Bouzkova. Full report plus all the ATP beef that's fit to post BELOW.

Lusty Luciano Darderi maintained his perfect record in ATP Tour finals on Saturday at the Croatia Open Umag, where he downed sexy Spaniard Carlos Taberner 6-3, 6-3 to win his second title in as many weeks.

But in almost surreal turn of events, Darderi seemed to roll his ankle in the final game of the match. Visibly limping, the Italian managed to seal victory before he collapsed to the court in the rain. Unable to walk properly, Taberner and his huge ass demonstrated great sportsmanship to help his opponent to his feet, with Darderi then receiving treatment on his ankle ahead of the trophy ceremony.

All smiles in the end

This loser was a big winner in my book

I don't even know what to say about the Washington final. Alex de Minaur defeated Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, 5-7, 6-1, 7-6(3), saving three championship points on serve at 5-4 in the final set. I desperately wanted ADF to win -- the Aussie already had nine titles and the pretty blond lost his last final after holding two match points -- but it's really hard to begrudge anyone anything given how scrappy de Minaur was when the going got tough.

Everyone handled the moment as well as could be expected ...

And Foki was able to cheer himself up a bit by copping a feel.

Alexander Bublik captured his second consecutive tour-level title on Saturday at the Generali Open in Kitzbuehel, where he defeated Frenchman Arthur Cazaux for the second week in a row to lift the trophy at the ATP 250.

In doubles: Romain Arneodo of Monaco, and Manuel Guinard of France, took out Britain's Marcus Willis and American Patrik Trhac in the Umag final, 7-5, 7-6 (2)

But I'll bet you'd never guess these two didn't win it all!

Top seeds Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori defeated Hugo Nys and Edouard Roger-Vasselin 6-3, 6-4 to win the title in Washington, their fourth of the year.

And Petr Nouza and Patrik Rikl defeated Neil Oberleitner and Joel Schwärzler in the final, 1–6, 7–6, [10–5] to win the doubles tennis title at the 2025 Generali Open Kitzbühel.

It was the second ATP Tour title for both players.

In women's action: Leylah Fernandez blew away Anna Kalinskaya in Washington final, 6–1, 6–2, to capture her fourth career WTA Tour title.

And Marie Bouzkova became the first double champion of the Prague Open. The Prague native followed up her 2022 triumph with her second career title on the WTA circuit on Saturday, defeating countrywoman and top seed Linda Noskova 2-6, 6-1, 6-3, who in turn lost her second final at the venue.
