After getting only TWO wrong in the office Oscar pool several years in a row and STILL MANAGING TO LOSE every time, I vowed never to enter again. (Yes, I can be a
really bad sport when it comes to things I think I'm good at; so why should I
even bother if HE's just going to win every time,
anyway????) But after taking a couple years off I allowed myself to get sucked back into it this year. The night was going along splendidly until I blew the Sound Mixing category. I still held out hope and then -- VOILA! -- I got Foreign Language Film wrong, too. At that point I knew it was sudden death. If I were to have
ANY chance at beating the office Oscar Predicting Freak at his own game, I
HAD to get the one remaining award up for grabs right. Going against everything I believed in -- who I wanted to win and who I thought deserved to win -- I picked Mickey Rourke for Best Actor. (Sean already has one; the Academy loves a comeback.) I got to work yesterday and sure enough, HE got the same two wrong that I did -- but picked Sean Penn for Best Actor. I hate the Oscars. If only there were a game board I could flip in the air right now ...

It's not funny at all, but your post really made me laugh! However I think that's only because otherwise I would cry as I went against everything I believed in for just about every category, safe in the knowledge whatever I usually choose loses.
What happened? They all bloomin' won...
A bad sport? Really? Shocking!
I missed the whole thing. Was walking home (live in Chelsea) and the streets were empty. Didn't knwow what was going on until I caught a glimpse of the show through someone's window.
Oh well, I'm sure you'll win next year!
