God Bless the Absentee

I've managed to live a mostly regret-free life so far. But boy am I kicking myself for opting to skip seeing Paul Simon during his weekend two-night stand at the Beacon Theater. Not only was the gloriously restored venue enjoying its finest hour, Rhymin' Simon "surprised" the crowd during the encore by bring out Art Garfunkel, with whom he performed "The Sounds of Silence" (damn me), "The Boxer" (fuck me) and a "Old Friends"/"Bookends" medley (what the hell is wrong with me?????). I should have known this was likely to happen (never mind the fact that I'm a HUGE Simon solo fan and recently got all of his expanded and remastered solo albums on CD), so I don't know what I was thinking. I guess the only way it could have been worse is if he'd done "American Tune" (my fave) or if the two of them had really stuck it to me and done "Punky's Dilemma." Regrets suck.
