That Didn't Take Long

It's inevitable that candidates we idealize and root for eventually let us down, but before they even take the oath of office? Barack Obama has asked anti-gay reverend Rick Warren to speak at the inauguration. Thanks a lot, O. It's one thing to be inclusive. It's another thing to give a platform to someone spewing hate against a segment of the population. In keeping with this sentiment I'm curious to know something: will there be a member of the KKK speaking, or maybe Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio?

Mark is right. For me Obama was the lesser of 2 evils; but still evil is evil

I agree that someone should throw shoes at the preacher man...

This is what we get as a community by always supporting the democratic candidate; our vote is a given and at most we only get support of the "it's about time that happened" nature.

Obama has read Machiavelli:

"you are not able to keep those friends who put you there because of your not being able to satisfy them in the way they expected"

and

"Because men, when they receive good from him of whom they were expecting evil, are bound more closely to their benefactor; thus the people quickly become more devoted to him than if he had been raised to the principality by their favours"

so next time, endorse some moderate republicans - then we'll get the democrats to jump for gay rights.

Finally, after all those decades, we're rid of the Billy Graham bullshit, and now this.

I hate the comparisons of homosexuality with race, too, Mark from NYC. Gays actually improve the value of neighborhoods! Black crime has gotten so bad that even Rosa Parks was mugged. Could you imagine a bunch of young gay guys mugging Quentin Crisp?

I figured something like this would happen and I tried to warn my circle of friends who supported Obama over Hillary. Just sayin'.

Obama is a center-ist, I'm that was clear from the campaign. However, I am still way put off by this selection. He didn't have to do it. He'd better make it up to the glbt community in big ways over the next few months.

Recently I received an email from the Obama people asking for more money and support and I was livid. After the recent slap at the GLBT community and the lack of GLBT advisors in his inner circle or Cabinet I thought "F*ck this SH*T". I am mad - hurt and feel betrayed. He decided to begin his administration with a man who equates me with pedophiles and does not seek out the views of my community.

Then at the bottom of that email I noticed the "To unsubscribe, go to: http://my.barackobama.com/unsubscribe" at the bottom of the email. Thats when the idea came to me. Obama's bread and butter was/is his email list. They used for fundraising and other actives. When I went to the page to unsubscribe it asked me why I was leaving. I let them know that it was because the has used the GLBT community and then p*ssed on us tossed us under the bus. It is my hope that if the velvet money machine dries up for Obama and the Party that might change his mind. It was a cheep easy way to express our displeasure.

Go back through your emails and find any that came from the Obama Campaign. Look to the bottom of the email and click on the Unsubscribe link and let them know why. Hit them where it hurts
