it's already A HUGE story. BTW it's only me the one who thinks that the woman's crazy???
Kenneth...I love your blog, however. I'm watching the Sarah Palin interview now, and she did not say "We should go to war with Russia." She indicated that if Georgia and the Ukrane joined NATO, we would be expected - by virtue of the NATO Alliance - to assist our allies. Come on, I've seen you as one of the fairer gay blogs as far as finding truth. Be true about what is said on both sides. Again though, love your blog.
Bill --
Those are two e-mails I received today. Not something I wrote.
Thanks!
Bill: You're mistaken. She in fact did hypothesize a war with Russia. Yes, it is predicated on Ukraine (emphatically saying it should be in NATO) and Georgia (slightly thereafter realizing the talking point that Georgia should, too) joining NATO. But the woman does not understand that one does not throw out hypotheticals about war like that. The journalist asks it in that way, then she needs to demur and say, "I firmly believe they should be in NATO, and all rules would apply." Otherwise, she's creating an international incident. It's like saying, "If Pakistan nukes India, we'll nuke Pakistan." It's probably true, but don't say it—it's undiplomatic and crazy. Are we taking lessons in foreign relations from North Korea now? The woman is crazy and also—watching her interview—COMPLETELY unprepared to discuss anything meaningful. Because before a few months ago, she had no opinions on any international or national issues aside from abortion.
No, she didn't literally say we should go to war with Russia, but between her comments last night and McCain's "We're all Georgians now" blather, they are doing an awful lot of saber rattling with Russia and I find it frightening.
My impression of her interview is that she can memorize talking points, she lies easily, and her knowledge of the world is a mile wide and an inch deep.
Sarah Palin~ "Dick Cheney in Lipstick" db
Kenneth - you are a bright spot in the day. Love your bloggie.
Anyway, am I the only one who is having a breakdown re this election and how Obama is tanking? I have got to stop going to the political sites to read poll numbers - after all I have a life, but this thing is taking control of me!
Kenneth...I apologize. I must have misread. I really do enjoy your blog quite a bit. I like how you were very political in your response to me and didn't give an opinion!! : )
