There's a great feature on Sarah Jessica Parker by Emily Nussbaum in the new issue of New York magazine. For some reason there seems to be a prevailing sentiment in the comments on my blog that I do not like SJP. For the record, this is completely untrue. I've loved her work since the beginning, never missing an episode of "Square Pegs" back when I attended Rhodes Junior High in Mesa, Ariz. (Admittedly there weren't that many, but I was devastated when it was canceled, OK?). Later in high school I actually went to the movies to see her in "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" (her leading man, Helen Hunt, might have been part of the draw too, I can't remember). And over the years -- pre-"Sex and the City" -- I've enjoyed her in a number of things including "L.A. Story," "Ed Wood," her little part in "The First Wives Club" and especially her Woody Allen knockoff, "The Miami Rhapsody." (Whatever happened to that totally hot guy who played her fiance, Gil Bellows?)
Like many of you, I'm a huge SATC fan and most of my negative comments relating to Sarah relate to my (seemingly unfounded) fears of them ruining the show's legacy with a movie (like most fans, I'm getting over it as the excitement kicks in), her hair when it's curly and her smoking. (Are the last two issues I have with Sarah or Carrie -- or both? I'm not even sure.) And although I feel bad that she was hurt by the Maxim "least sexy" thing (who wouldn't?), I have admitted that I agreed with it (as much as a gay man can) because I think she's the kind of girl who is attractive, but more because of the whole package than raw sex appeal. Yet she's kind of been shoved down our throats as being a sex kitten -- so I could see why heterosexual men would rebel against that. (Read the New York article and I think it's pretty clear that she doesn't see herself as a sexpot either).
So there. Glad I got that off my chest. See you at the Chelsea Clearview on May 30. Love you, Sarah!

Nicely said Kenneth!
That reminds me... Lee Montgomery... the hunky dude in GIRLS JUST WANT TO HAVE FUN (or is it JUST WANNA?...whatever) was the little kid in that rat movie BEN... the one Michael Jackson sang about...and the sequel to WILLARD... they used to sho that alot on the CBS Late Movie on channel 2 in Detroit...
HAHA! You're right Kenny, Helen Hunt is a man.
Never a fan of SITC myself (although I love the spoof with Charlotte Raye, Sally Struthers, Bea Arthur et all) et al), but I can't wait for the "Square Pegs" DVD set this month!
I always thought she was kind of homely myself much the way I think of Renee Zelwegger(sic). But there's a bit of sophistication about her and plus she's married to Matthew. That moves her up the hottie list considerably. She'd make a good witch.
Don't forget her hysterical cameo as the school nurse in "Strangers with Candy."
I heart Sarah. She's gorgeous. Except for that curly bob she wore for awhile there on SATC. Come to think of it, she's one of those people that cant get away with every hair length/style. But when it all comes together, shes frikkin hot.
