I'm a Chelsea Boy

Kudos to the smart people over at E! for renewing Chelsea Handler's hilarious late-night talk/gossip show, "Chelsea Lately." (Chelsea's live-in lover, Ted Harbert, is the CEO of Comcast Entertainment Group, which includes the E! channel, so imagine how awkward that dinner conversation would have been had the show been axed.)

If you're not watching then you're really missing a treat. (Such an antidote for the crap that passes as "late night" fare on the networks.) The show debuted on July 16 and E! reports that its audience has grown by 23 percent since the summer launch, so word-of-mouth is obviously helping. Although "Chelsea Lately" has sort of been in production throughout the writers strike (even the repeats generally have a new "round table" tacked on to the beginning, in which Chelsea dishes the latest celebrity headlines with guest comics, actors and pop culture gurus), the news release says "new" episodes for Season 2 will begin airing on Monday at 11:30 p.m. I can't think of a better way to start a new year than laughing my ass off. Congrats, Chelsea!
