Page 1 Consider (12/12)

  • Little Black Brief: Soccer stud David Beckham set off an international frenzy on Monday when the first picture from his 2008 Emporio Armani underwear ad campaign surfaced in cyberspace . In it, Becks sports an impressive bulge in a pair of tighty whities with his legs spread wide open. I saw this slightly less suggestive photo from the campaign in USA Today and scanned it for your enjoyment. (USAToday)

  • Attack of the Foggy Bottom: D.C. police are investigating an attack on a gay man on the city's Metro. (DCist)

  • 10 Years Later: Congress may have dropped the Matthew Shepherd Act, but his mother, Judy, is not giving up. (Advocate)

  • Georgia Peaches: Nancy Grace's prematurely born twins are finally home in Crazyland with mom these days. (Love you, Nance!) They say a woman her age is more likely to get struck by lightning than to get married, so kudos to her for combining the two and getting hitched to a guy who looks like he's been struck by a bolt or two in his lifetime. (UsWeekly)

  • Better Call HR! You mean you're not supposed to run an escort service specializing in tranny hookers from work? (NYP)

  • Me Fly Pretty One Day: In case you missed it, The New Yorker has the latest from (212) favorite David Sedaris. This time Amy's brother tackles the trials and tribulations of business-class travel. (NewYorker)

  • Chart Toppers: I sure miss the days of Casey Kasem and writing down the weekly Top 40. But iTunes reports Maroon 5 and Fergie were its biggest sellers of downloads for '07, for album and single respectively, so maybe I'll just write cut and paste this list down instead. (Lifeline)

  • Slippery KY: A lawsuit challenging a $11 million dollar state grant to a private Baptist university argues that giving the money violates the Kentucky state constitution. (365Gay)

  • Welcome to the Wine House: The success rate for Dr. Drew's "Celebrity Rehab" reality show isn't looking good. Fifty percent of the "stars" have already relapsed and the show hasn't even begun to air yet. (Time to bring back Poorman!) (AP and AP)

  • Jungle Love: Anderson Cooper tries to interview a family of gorillas for "60 Minutes" and his translucent skin freaks them all out. (SoupCans)

  • Bloody Reviewers: I was dying to see "Atonement" when I saw it getting four stars in every review. Until now. (Either way, James McAvoy is still hot.) (NYT)

  • RIP: Gay historian Allan Berube, award-winning author of "Coming Out Under Fire," died Tuesday of complications from two stomach ulcers. He was 61. (Advocate

I, too, was a little underwhelmed by 'Atonement'. Still not a bad flick though.

Thank you for putting the David Sedaris link out there. He cracks me up.

Also serves as a reminder to read Holidays On Ice. I do that every year at this time.

Don't go by one review -- see it to judge for yourself. I loved the movie, though I had not read the novel. I mention this because the people who were not so impressed with the movie, like my partner, seem to be those who have read the novel.
James McAvoy and all three actresses playing Briony (the most famous of which is Vanessa Redgrave)are wonderful. If you haven't read the novel, watch what you read about the movie -- avoid any spoilers because in this case, it will really will spoil things.
