Edie Slept Here

My blogger friend Ed Hamilton's new book, "Legends of the Chelsea Hotel: Living with Artists and Outlaws in New York's Rebel Mecca" just came out last week. I can't wait to get this (Christmas is right around the corner, Mikey). I've long been fascinated with the Chelsea (what new wave, Spungeon/Sedgwick-obsessed teen wasn't?) but what I'm most curious about is learning how the place went from being an artistic flophouse to an upscale boutique hotel. (An out-of-town friend of mine recently choked when he heard what rooms went for there.) Find out more here.

Ed has two upcoming readings in Chelsea at which you can get your copy signed. Unfortunately for me, he booked them the same nights as (Chelsea resident) Debbie Harry's solo show at Irving Plaza and the rescheduled (Chelsea -- London, that is) Pipettes show at the Blender Theatre:

Thursday, Nov. 8
7 p.m.
192 Books
192 Tenth Ave.

Monday, Nov. 12
7 p.m.
The Half King
505 W. 23rd St.
