Hey, 'Lady'!!! Kudos to Jerry Lewis for apologizing for calling someone a fag during his annual Labor Day telethon. You know how much that kind of languages upsets the 'tards. (Reuters)
The Gift That Keeps Giving: So not only is Larry Craig trying to redraw his guilty plea in his bathroom sex scandal, now he's thinking about not resigning from the Senate either. I say good for him. If he goes, Vitter needs to go with him. George Michael should be so good at resurrecting his career. (NYT) And Craig's kids hit the morning talk-show circuit to assure everyone that they asked their dad the "hard" questions about what happened (huh-huh) and they're sure he's just a victim of cirumstance. (AP) Speaking of resignations, MediaMatters thinks Tom DeLay is spewing a bit of revisionist history when it comes to Mark Foley's exit. (Story)
Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood: Is Blogactive's Mike Rogers the most feared man on Capitol Hill? He's just gettin' warmed up. (WP)
No Gray Area: Four actors from "Grey's Anatomy" are featured in a new ad campaign preaching tolerance for gays and lesbians. Let's hope Isaiah Washington doesn't f**k up his new job and make anti-bionic slurs. (AP)
Under the Lights: Justin Henin vs. Serena Williams turned out to be a bit of a disappointment. Will Roger Federer and Andy Roddick be the same? (Hint: yes). (Reuters)
Afternoon Delight: You mean you're not supposed to run ads for your hooker habit on Craigslist? (NYT)
Burning Sensation: Not only does microwave popcorn stink up the whole world, it kills people too! (NYT)
Puttin' on the Ritz: Remember 1990s gay porn star Ryan Idol ("Score 10")? (I sure do. He was sitting next to me at Pennyfeathers on La Cienega back in the day hunky as could be until the purse that came flying out of his mouth nearly hit me in the face). He's getting ready to star on Broadway in a play set in a 1970s bathhouse called "The Ritz"! (OhLaLa)
Depends What You Mean by Straight: John McCain's "straight talk express" can't even tell you what time it is without checking in with his handlers, why would these students in New Hampshire think he's going to answer tough questions about gay rights? (AP)
So F**ked Up: A man in Oregon was sentenced to 25 years in prison for repeatedly raping his 11-year-old stepson, something he did as revenge against the boy's mother in the hopes of turning the child gay so she would never have any grandchildren. The assaults came to light when it was revealed that he later threatened to rape a girlfriend's daughter if she ended the relationship with him. (365Gay)
Die Young, Stay Pretty: A new report confirms what we've known all along: Rock stars die younger. (AP)
'View' Master: Whoopi Goldberg got off to a very Rosie start on "The View" this week as she defended NFL quarterback Michael Vick. Goldberg said that "from where he comes from" in the South, dogfighting isn't that unusual. "It's like cockfighting in Puerto Rico," she said. "There are certain things that are indicative to certain parts of the country." Joy Behar looked horrified at Goldberg. "How about dog torture and dog murdering?" Behar asked. (AP)
I think Joy Behar and I had the same look on our faces. I heard Whoopi make her comment about it being part of the culture in the South and was surprised that she said that.
Many people don't consider Texas part of the South but it is Southern enough. Trust me, I don't condone what he did and it isn't part of my culture.
I'm from Mississippi, and you don't get much more southern than that. I had never heard of anybody dogfighting, so I don't know what area Whoopi meant. It certainly shocked me.
Not to throw another stereotype on top of it, but I always thought that was a gang thing, and we just didn't have the gang thing where I was.

Ryan Idol isn't starring in The Ritz, he's in the ensemble. He may not even have any dialogue.
If you've never seen the 70s movie "The Ritz" staring Rita Moreno, you should have your gay card revoked! History, people, History!
I don't know if Goldberg meant the South overall, or just Southern black neighborhoods, but either way I sure hope it isn't true.
