Page 1 Consider (05/18)

  • Blondie Ambition: Everyone always says Kylie Minogue is a poor man's Madonna, copying the Material Girl's every move one step behind. Now Kylie's dug into the archives for her latest look, channeling Blondie's Debbie Harry circa 1978. (Sun) Speaking of Deb, whose long-awaited fifth solo album, "Necessary Evil," is slated to come out Aug. 7, she now claims that Phil Spector pulled a gun on her, too. (Source)

  • Speaking Ill of the Dead: Because no one else will, Christopher Hitchens says what needs to be said about Jerry Falwell. (Source)

  • TV Watch: Both Fox and The CW make significant changes to their fall television lineups. "Veronica Mars" is even history. (NYT)

  • '80s Flashback: Pop stars Cyndi Lauper, Kim Wilde, Bonnie Tyler, the Bangles and Samantha Fox are all rumored to be on the list of artists to perform on the Countdown Spectacular show in Australia. Rumor has it Bananarama was "too busy" to partake. (Source) Speaking of '80s superstars, Boy George thinks the hooker kidnap claim against him is "hilarious." (Source)

  • History Repeating: Just one year into her return to the tour and Martina Hingis is seriously injured, having missed defending her Italian Open title (there go some major points) and now pulling out of the French. It's sad news for tennis, and she's not the only out. (AP)

  • Calling All Queers: I knew the gay community liked to recruit members to "be gay," but now the city of San Francisco and a Bay Area adoption agency Thursday are launching a campaign to urge members of the LGBT community to become adoptive parents. The campaign's goal is to recruit individuals and couples to adopt older children who are currently in the foster care system. (Source)

  • Brass in Pocket: I certainly hope Chrissie Hynde and the Pretenders are being well-compensated to open for Rod Stewart on his summer tour. It's just so wrong. (Source)

  • Cough It Up: A tranny in Pennsylvania has won her battle with her insurance company over who's footing the bill for her sex change. Good for her -- I've never won a battle with mine and my disputes never involved anything like removing my genitalia. (Source)

  • Prisoner Cell Block H: How sweet of ex-hooker Natalie McLenan to warn Paris Hilton about lesbians in the slammer. (Source)

  • Village Person: So Brady Quinn does want to be a Macho, Macho Man. (AOL) I guess it's a good thing his coach gave him a pair of Hummers. (Source)
