Page 1 Consider (12/18)

  • Santa Baby: It's time for the annual Santa Speedo Run in Boston. Half-naked boys and it's for charity (SSR) ... not to be confused with the post-finals UCLA "Undie Run" (below).

  • No Magic: Futher evidence that there are no new ideas left in the world, "Xanadu" will be remade into a Broadway musical, set to open at the Helen Hayes Theater in May 2007. What do these producers sit around talking about all night? "Well, the movie was a complete bomb and the only thing about it that had any redeeming quality whatsoever was Olivia Newton-John, so let's do it all over again -- only this time without her!" Investors deserve what they get on this one. (Advocate)

  • War of the Bloggers: You may have read about the $7.6-million copyright infringement lawsuit X17.com has filed against gossip blogger Perez Hilton for allegedly stealing their images for his site. Reading the details, it sounds like the whole thing is some petty cat fight between the two parties (X17's owners think Hilton is "arrogant"(!) -- which I'm just certain is a federal offense in Hollywood ... Hilton thinks right-clicking their photos is "fair use" on his celebrity site). It will be interesting to see how the courts rule on this one, but I do think it's only fair that it be noted that when X17 suddenly appeared on the scene over the summer they were INUNDATING bloggers' in-boxes BEGGING them to use their photos (including yours truly). When Perez and Trent finally took the bait -- undoubtedly trafficing millions of readers back to back their way -- then X17 suddenly sent out this cease and desist order telling us that we all needed to fork over these HUGE amounts of money if we wanted to use their photos anymore -- even with the typical link back that is the entire basis of blogging. Say what you want about Mario Lavandeira, but X17 co-owners Brandy and Francois Navarre certainly have a drug pusher operation going on, which is the classier part of their operation -- stalking celebrities. • Election '08: Could former North Carolina senator John Edwards be the Dems' solution to the Barack Obama-Hillary Rodham Clinton stalemate? He sure is bright, funny, charismatic -- and oh-so telegenic. (AP)

  • Good News From The Hill: Sen. Tim Johnson has shown significant improvement after brain surgery, and doctors say "everything is going to be just fine," Senate Democratic leader Harry M. Reid (Nev.) said Sunday. (AP)

  • Cashing In: Bee Gee Barry Gibb bought and is restoring the lakefront house belonging to the late Johnny and June Carter Cash. "It’s going to be nice," Gibb said during a reception in his honor by the performance rights organization BMI. "We’d like to use it as our second home. I would like to come here and write songs. I am planning on making a country album. That is really who I am." (AP)

  • Neither Right, Nor OK: How on earth did Whitney Houston get voted Ultimate Music Diva by a poll conducted by the gay televison network LOGO? Has her drug-induced stagnation made her such a modern-day Judy Garland that the gays have forgotten both Madonna and Cher overnight? (Advocate)
  • Here's the Top 10, including top video pick: 1. Whitney Houston: "It's Not Right But It's Okay" 2. Madonna: "Vogue" 3. Janet Jackson: "Nasty" 4. Patti LaBelle: "New Attitude" 5. Cher: "If I Could Turn Back Time" 6. Kristine W: "I'll Be Your Light" 7. Tina Turner: "What's Love Got to do With It" 8. Christina Aguilera: "Beautiful" 9. Debbie Harry (Blondie): "Call Me" 10. Kylie Minogue: "Can't Get You Out of My Head"

Well, it certainly was not the choice I would have made. I would have gone with Deborah Cox's "Nobody's Supposed to be Here"

Greetings to you, Kenneth, from your fan in Minnesota! Not only is John Edwards the Dems solution, but I really believe that he is the nation's solution to the political divisiveness and polarization that has, unfortunately, been prevalent for so many years. I went to Iowa (Waterloo) the weekend before the '04 precinct caucuses to campaign for John Edwards and I had the opportunity to meet him and his wife, Elizabeth, and they are certainly very impressive and intelligent folks. John will be a formidable candidate and I think that his message will be one that will resonate with the American electorate- I certainly hope that it will, in any event! John Edwards is my man and he is a mighty fine looking fellow to boot and that certainly won't do him any harm. I hope all is well with you. Take care, my friend. Until next time.
