Page 1 Consider (12/11)

  • DVR Central: I know I'm not going to forget to watch John Stamos and Eric Dane in "Wedding Wars" tonight on A&E -- are you? (Scripps)

  • Katrina Aftermath: Despite the fact that the FBI found $90,000 in his freezer, Rep. William J. Jefferson of New Orleans won an emphatic re-election victory this weekend in a state that greatly distrusts the government. As shocking as this story is, he's hardly alone, joining an ignominious club that includes the likes of President Bush, Richard Nixon and Marion Barry. (WP)

  • No Shit, Sherlock: The House ethics committee reported Friday that Republican lawmakers and aides failed to protect young male pages from former representative Mark Foley's improper advances, concluding an investigation into a scandal that convulsed Congress and contributed to the GOP defeat in November's election. Yet conveniently, the panel's report said it found no evidence that any current lawmakers or aides violated any rules saying only that it discovered a pattern of conduct among many ''to remain willfully ignorant of the potential consequences'' of Foley's conduct. Gee, thanks. How much did this report cost taxpayers? (AP)

  • Big Guys on Campus: To no one's surprise, hunky Ohio State QB Troy Smith took home the Heisman Trophy. But the experts are predicting big things for both him and dreamboat Notre Dame QB Brady Quinn, who is favored to be the NFL's No. 1 draft pick. (AP)

  • Puget Shame: What's this about a new PBS documentary that attempts to save face for deceased -- and disgraced -- former Spokane mayor James West. The writer David Ehrenstein says "A Hidden Life" is little more than a slick PR job designed to "clear" West's name for the benefit of heterosexuals eager to renegotiate their attitudes toward gays. Blatant homophobia is now out of fashion, but actual equality is out of the question as well. What the producers offer instead is the comfort of condescension. God help the world when West -- who abused his office and his fellow man in unconscionable ways -- is defended by anyone but his mother. (Advocate)

Wedding Wars - worst gay film ever. It was like an after school special without the acne.
