Page 1 Consider (09/21)

  • View is Rosie: She may be a tad overrated, but Barbara Walters is no fool. Adding Rosie O'Donnell to her gabfest "The View" has brought in millions of new viewers and plenty of new sponsors. And Commack's finest has not disappointed -- wasting no time in sizing up the queen of daytime television herself Oprah Winfrey: After showing the "View" audience a clip of Winfrey and her friend Gayle King struggling to pump gas while driving cross-country this summer, a "Thelma and Louise" excursion they had recorded for the fall premiere of Winfrey's talk show, O'Donnell said, "I think that's very typical of gay relationships -- not saying they're gay. You might be a little bit gay," said O'Donnell as she spoke to Winfrey, whom she called "Opie," as if she were there. "You're just not doing it." (Keep that up, Rosie, and I may just have to tune in!) (NYT)

  • Musical Mannies: Look who's got a new job. I hope Jude Law has sex with this one too (and leaks the video). (Us Weekly)

  • Waste Not, Want Not: Doctors in China say they successfully transplanted a penis on a man who lost his own in an accident, but had to remove it two weeks later because of psychological problems experienced by the man and his wife. Fourteen days after the penis transplant, the recipient and his wife requested that the organ be removed "because of the wife's psychological rejection as well as the swollen shape of the transplanted penis," the surgeons report in the journal. Lab examination showed no sign of rejection, the doctors report. I'm guessing the woman felt uncomfortable having sex with another man's penis, but wouldn't you at least give a test ride before cutting it off again? (AP)

  • Not Ready for Anytime Players: Let's see: "Saturday Night Live" is already one of the worst shows on television. Now it's losing its "talented" head writer Tina Fey (plus Rachel Dratch) to a new sitcom, and letting cast members Horatio Sanz, Finesse Mitchell and Chris Parnell go because of "budget cuts." Nothing says funny like mass firings. (NYT)

  • Chelsea Boy: I forgot to watch "Andy Warhol: A Documentary Film" on PBS last night, but set my DVR for Part Two tonight. Anyone see it? (Reuters)

  • Big Splash: Justin Timberlake's bringing sexy and CD sales back. (MTV)

  • Stop the Presses: Did you know that fashion models are too thin? Complaints about the idolization of role models who suggest unhealthy lifestyles are culturally endemic. Celebrities like Nicole Richie, Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton and Mischa Barton have all been subjects of tabloid headlines asking, "Are they too thin?" In all likelihood, the answer is yes, but that does not stop magazines from displaying their pictures or, likewise, designers from casting thin models in their shows. (NYT)
