'Desperate,' But Not Serious

So everyone I know -- along with the rest of the world -- is obsessed with "Footballers Wives." I thought the show was badly in need of an apostrophe, so I kept my distance. Then I stumbled upon an episode (a single episode) one night, and I was instantly hooked.
I know I'm two seasons plus behind in U.S. time and four plus in the U.K., but they're out on DVD and British television "seasons" are about as long as a "Sex and the City" "season," so catching up shouldn't take long -- and should be oh-so-fun!

For those who still haven't caught the Footballers Fever, I point you to a piece I read in the San Francisco Chroncle that manages to explain its infectiousness so brilliantly that I won't even attempt to compete.
