I first noticed Christopher Wiehl as the hilariously named J. Crew guy in the underrated "Broken Hearts Club." He later starred as the quarterback going through a rough season on ESPN's controversial drama "Playmakers."
But it's his latest role as Tom Cavanagh's sportscaster buddy on CBS's "Love Monkey" (sort of a male "Sex and the City") that has my interest piqued. Although it hasn't been fleshed out yet, we got a glimpse of Christopher's character, Jake Dunne (think Peter Krause in "Sports Night"), going into the apartment of his male date on the pilot episode. This could shape up to be quite an interesting plotline with the dual intrigue of gays in the macho world of sports as well as the closeted news anchor aspect (I wonder if Anderson Cooper is watching).

Don't shoot the messenger, but I think "Love Monkey" is kaput. Officially CBS says it's "on hiatus" but they did not announce any plans for its return. Too bad, after seeing these pix I might have checked it out!
Hey there, I think it is so lame of CBS just “putting Love Monkey on Hiatus for an unknown time”. I personally think that this show should either go on a different network like the same one with the Gilmore Girls or be on at a different time slot. Damn. I hadn't heard about this. First "Jake in Progress" and now this. Is it any wonder that I don't currently watch any network shows? The minute you try to get into one they cancel it. ("Miss Match" anyone?)
