Have you been reading about (or watching) the Judge John Roberts hearings? It been getting really irksome listening to Joe Biden and Chuck Schumer feign indignation while trying to act cute. My brother Terence summed up the situation like this:
These a-hole senators (many if not most of them lawyers themselves), by virtue of asking him about his personal "positions" based on legal arguments he made 15 and 20 years ago, pretend not to know what lawyers do!
Lawyers are prostitutes. They make the best argument for any position their employer takes.
Since Roberts is Bush's boy he can't be all good, but I have to admire his blunt, unintimidated responses to these inane questions: "I was a 26-year-old staff lawyer, it was my first job as a lawyer after my clerkships," etc. (Thanks, Terence!)
And we get to do it all over again within weeks.
