Cue the 'Surprised' Look

In an interview with The Associated Press, the nasal-voice actress Gwyneth Paltrow and the director John Madden discuss an early meeting between the two, before they worked on "Shakespeare in Love" and their new film "Proof."

"She and I met long, long, long ago for an audition on another movie that I was not allowed to cast her in," Madden said.

"They said I wasn't pretty enough," Paltrow added. "That's a true story."

I'm guessing she thinks we're supposed to be surprised by this.

It's all judgemental. In fact, I judge a lot of actresses mentally...
