Weekend Tennis Roundup

Eight countries advanced to the Davis Cup finals; Jovic and Rakotomanga Rajaonah won their first titles; Juan Manuel Cerundolo picked up a Challenger trophy; plus all the ATP beef that's fit to post BELOW

Caught a bit of Davis Cup over the weekend, and was a little surprised to see the U.S. and Australia both get knocked out. Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy (as the host nation) and Spain each advanced to the Final 8 stage.

These teams will compete in the Final 8, which will take place in Bologna from Nov. 18 to 23.

At 17, American Iva Jovic became the youngest player to win a WTA title this season by beating Emiliana Arango (6-4, 6-1) in the Guadalajara Open final. Jovic entered the tournament ranked 73 in the world and has climbed up to a career-high 36, having began 2025 at 206.

The final of the 2025 Sao Paulo women's tennis tournament saw 19-year-old French player Tiantsoa Rakotomanga Rajaonah defeat Indonesia's Janice Tjen 6-3, 6-4 to claim her first WTA title. Rakotomanga Rajaonah, the lowest-ranked WTA champion of the season to date at No. 218, saved three match points in the first round to begin her run.

Although I'm not convinced anyone is looking at his head

Spanish DC captain David Ferrer was furious that Holger Rune was allowed to receive treatment for cramps

It happened when Pedro Martinez went from leading 6-1, 4-2 to having to come back from 3-5 in the third set and save a match point before defeating the Dane 6-1, 4-6, 7-6(3) to force a deciding rubber that Spain ended up winning!

Depressing to read that Novak Djokovic has had to move his family to Athens after Serbia's strongman leader turned on him for supporting protesters. It's no surprise that the other countries from the former Yugoslavia has flourished now that they're away from these Russian wannabes.
