NBC News: Serial killer docuseries 'Last Call' reckons with NYC's history of anti-gay violence; if gay men aren't being erased by serial killers they're being erased by today's LGBT activists and media. Notice the actual sign from the early 1990s in the photo above versus the name of the book on which this documentary is based -- the poor victims were ALL GAY MEN, for crying out loud. 🙄
A friend recently poked fun at my aversion to the term "queer," saying I needed to get over the fact that its meaning has changed from the days when I was being called it by my tormenters at school. My response was, "What does it mean now?" He said "Anyone who's not straight," to which I replied, "So trans people who are straight aren't queer?" Then he corrected himself -- bolstering my belief that its meaning is not at all clear -- and said "Anyone who's not straight or not cisgender." This, of course, sounds exactly like LGBT to me, bringing me back to my longstanding question of why we need a Q on LGBT if LGBT means Q in these people's minds? Note: If people can respect other marginalized groups' wishes on how they be referred to, they can respect mine. (Latinx, anyone?)

I'm with you on the Q word call me a boomer I don't care I will not use that word to refer to myself or any other gay man- and this cis thing is just a silly- and as Latino I refused the dumb Latinx I do not know a single Hispanic person who uses it
I don't mind "queer," but I detest the made-up term "cis gendered." I thought the children of today hated being pigeonholed? Why fabricate ever more labels?
If you were ever called "a queer" (not "queer" but "you're a queer") then I think you would not rally behind the word either. Same context as someone calling you "a fag". Queer is not a word I will ever use to describe myself or my lifestyle.
"Cis gender" is another unnecessary term
