From Micro to Macro

I'm not a big fan of people whining about "political correctness" or its successor, "wokeness." But this is uncomfortably accurate. (Can you imagine being an educator in 2023?) It would be great if we could get the balance right between exorcising the racism, sexism, homophobia etc. of the past while not always being spring-loaded to assume the worst of everyone -- because the truth is there are more than enough actually horrible people to go after. I honestly think social media is largely to blame here, as it's the ultimate double-edged sword: It's inspiring people to needlessly overreact at times in hopes of going viral while at the same time allowing bad behavior to be more readily exposed. I wish it came with a users' manual, because at the rate we're going, it'll be the downfall of society. Democracy barely stood the test of 2020 and the outlook remains glum.

P.S. And Tracey Ullman's "Overly-Woke Support Group" from 2016 was even better! Watch HERE.
