Song of the Day: 'I Couldn't Live Without Your Love' by Petula Clark

Here's wishing the legendary Petula Clark a very happy 90th birthday! So grateful that Damian and I had the opportunity to see her in concert in 2017 -- sitting very close to the stage at an intimate venue. (Was she really 85 at the time?! RIP, B.B. King's.) Petula was the first let me know where I needed to be -- downtown, natch! -- and the classics kept coming. All told, Petula scored 14 Top 40 singles in the U.S., including five Top 5 hits. Cheers, Pet!

Hey, Kevin! Thanks for honoring such an underrated legend. You should checkout Petula’s last album, “Vu d’ici” (2018), a collection of contemporary French-Canadian compositions she recorded in Quebec at the young age of 85! It’s fantastic! Fresh and engaging, this is not one of those boring “resting on my laurels” affairs. Although sung entirely in French the album sounds like an updated version of her familiar 60s sound. The opening track “Ceux Qu’on Aime” would make Tony Hatch proud.

Unfortunately the album is no longer on iTunes, however I found it on Spotify and on YouTube.

And I know it’s only a title but why isn’t she a “Dame”? C’mon, Joan Collins over Pet?!
