After knocking out Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Alexander Zverev to win the Madrid Open, it's hard not to imagine that even bigger things are ahead for 19-year-old Carlos Alcaraz. My full report BELOW.
Spanish phenom Carlos Alcaraz capped a brilliant week by crushing Alexander Zverev on Sunday to win the Madrid Open, 6-3, 6-1. The victory, which followed back-to-back upsets over Rafael Nadal in the quarterfinals and top-ranked Novak Djokovic in the semifinals -- pushes him to No. 6 in the world, and has everyone wondering if this may be the year he wins his first Grand Slam title.
Dreamy Wesley Koolhof and Neal Skupski captured their first ATP Masters 1000 title together Sunday at the Madrid Open, edging fifth seeds Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah 6-7(4), 6-4, 10-5.
Ons Jabeur -- perhaps the most likeable person in the history of the game -- achieved another milestone Saturday, when the No.8 seed from Tunisia outlasted No.12 seed Jessica Pegula 7-5, 0-6, 6-2 to win the Madrid Open for her first WTA 1000 title. I'd love to see her win a major, so here's hoping this gives her the confidence boost she's been lacking hitherto.
