Song of the Day: 'Old Friends' by Everything but the Girl

Forgive me if I sound a little giddy. But after decades of searching for an old roommate of mine -- and at first not hearing back when I thought I'd tracked him down -- I just got a lengthy email from him. I haven't had time to process it all, much less respond. But it's an overwhelming feeling to know that he's doing so exceptionally well, didn't deliberately ignore my attempt to reach out -- his work spam filter is strong and he only went through the messages because today's his last day on the job -- and that he ended up becoming friends with a bunch of people I know over the past three decades! Might be time for a long-overdue trip to Los Angeles. :-)

He writes in part:
Okay, wait, you wrote a memoir?? I can only imagine the things you shared. Derek must have gotten at least an entire chapter. And Tweet had to have gotten at least one paragraph out of every chapter! PLEASE don’t tell me that you wrote about your granola-gay roommate who hung fishnets and shells from his ceiling. How embarrassing! Do you remember the hundreds of times (or so it seemed) that we went to the Factory in West Hollywood? (building now demolished to build apartments) Or Newport Station around the corner from us? Hard to believe we survived just the lack of sleep alone.

Yeah, I'm smiling ear-to-ear this Monday!
