Song of the Day: 'Fading Fast' by Josie Cotton

My friends' reviews are in:
"Um. No. Almost every creative decision was a bad one!" -- Christopher

"I like her cover -- a little disappointed in E.G.'s 'We Got the Beat.'" -- Mark

"It's more new wave than the original!" -- Greg
Me? I'm not sure what to think. I was expecting these reimagined versions of Go-Go's songs to be the funnest thing ever. But after three releases -- 'Lust to Love' by Hayley and the Crushers; the aforementioned  "We Got the Beat" and this -- I'm starting to reimagine my expectations for the tribute album.

P.S. Knowing that Josie and the Go-Go's came out of the same L.A. punk scene -- the Go-Go's did the original "Johnny, Are You Queer?" -- I thought it would be fun to find a photo of them from back in the day. Strangely, I came up empty-handed.

Every once and while these post's take me to a specific time and place. This song (GoGo's version of course)? To the Chevron at PCH and Topanga Canyon about 7 a.m. I was taking the targa roof off the Fiat and heading home north on PCH to get to work by 10 in Santa Barbara, after a night in WeHo of under age fun.
Now the thought of that makes me want to take a nap.
