A shame to hear about the passing of Bronski Beat co-founder and keyboardist Steve Bronski (né Forrest) at just 61. There isn't a gay boy of a certain age who wasn't irrevocably moved by the boys' 1984 debut single, "Smalltown Boy," which spoke to exactly how we felt about coming out at that time. No cause of death has been given. But with keyboardist Larry Steinbachek dying in 2017 at 56, original singer Jimmy Sommerville is now the only living member, which is sad yet somehow comforting given the fact that gay boys of a certain age didn't expect to live to be 30 much less 61. RIP.
