Song of the Day: 'Cairo' by Bananarama

The sun sets on our time in Egypt 

The best part of the singles heyday was nonalbum b-sides, something you could always count on Bananarama for. Songs like "Girl About Town," "Tell Tale Signs" and "Live Now" were fun additions to the girls' repertoire, but none more so than "Cairo" -- the b-side of 1983's "Cruel Summer" -- which was running through my head the entire time we were in Egypt.

Only recently discovered that Amazulu -- of "Montego Bay" fame -- also recorded the song in 1983, releasing it as their debut single!

"Cairo" hit No. 86 on the U.K. singles chart and was later included on the band's 1986 eponymous debut LP.
