Was saddened to hear that "proudly goofy rapper" Biz Markie had died on Friday, at just 57. Making matters worse was finding out his one hit -- the delightful "Just a Friend" -- had borrowed its melody and best line (the toy-piano refrain "You ... got what I need") from a 1968 song of the same name. I don't think I've been this musically disappointed since finding out "Ray of Light" wasn't fully Madonnna's most-genius moment, having been largely based on Curtis Moldoon's "Sepheryn." RIP, Mr. Markie.
