Just came across this yesterday. I had never even heard of Green Day until Jane Wiedlin wrote "Unforgiven" with Billie Joe Armstrong for "God Bless the Go-Go's" in the early aughts. (I know. But I was in a musical blackout from 1993-1998 when dating a Colombian -- and they never came on my radar when I finally escaped!) In fact, I was at the Eagle in early 2009 with Scott Prendergast and Billy Eichner when we ran into a theater friend of theirs who explained he was working on the Broadway musical "American Idiot" and I snickered, suggesting he better have another job lined up for the week after its premiere. (Oops.) So with that in mind, this probably isn't as thrilling to me as it should be. But I do appreciate that the male pronouns were left intact on this gender-flip cover of what is arguably Blondie's best single, if not best song altogether. Check it out:
